The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

I re read the classic book the secret garden the other day . In my eyes this book will never get old because it teaches you life lessons you never thought you would learn its not just a children's book adults can learn from it too .
This is the edition of the copy that I bought from a used book store here in Peabody MA called used super book store they have a few locations http://www.usedbooksuperstore.com/  this is there website they have a vast collection of books.

So to get started on my book review, About: The main character  Mary  she is orphaned early on in the book ,and is sent to live with her uncle craven in Yorkshire ,England from India where she had servants to dress her and give her anything she wanted . Mary is in for a shock when she arrives at Misselethwaite Manor ,no one to attend to her every need just someone to bring  her meals and sweep the fire place her uncle hasn't even come to see her when she first arrived he appears later in the book. Luckily for Mary she gets Martha has her maid who soon teaches her to dress herself and to be greatful for the food put in front of her . Mary is the sort of character who loathes everyone because she feels bitter inside so her whole out look on life is colored with being negative  and upset .

Martha is the hard working maid who was raised in a house with 11 siblings so she is grateful for anything ,her enduring nature and outspoken ways makes her my favorite character of this book. There is also ,Mrs. Medlock who is as I would call her the head housekeeper who looks after the house and makes sure things are  being done  right .There is Mr. .Craven the master of the house Mary's uncle who is rarely there who I mentioned briefly before  .Their are also other servants the cook, footman ,and scullery maid and other gardeners  they are rarely mentioned. Dickon who is Martha's brother is also a very important part of the story  he could easily be described as a nature lover and outdoors man . Ben Weatherstaff  is the head gardener who adds a bit of rough edge to the book but you soon learn to love him.  Mary soon  discovers there are many locked doors and gardens she sets out on a mission to find out why one of the garden doors is locked and why their are strange sounds that she can hear often in the huge manor but she has been told no one else lives there but her the servants and Master Craven .

This book takes you through learning to be positive about the life you are given and to believe in something that cannot always be seen but that you believe is there .I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book that is light and fun and brightens the imagination .I would call it and easy read, its very well written .I really enjoyed it .
